Some interesting facts about Hemp

Did you know hemp can help you get rid of toxins and radioactive materials? Yes, it is correct! Scientists planted hemp and discovered that it performed phytoremediation, or cleaning up the air and soil around it while growing, decomposing pollutants from the soil and healing the environment.

Hemp plastics are a great alternative to carbon-positive single-use synthetic products since hemp plants are high in cellulose. The same may be said of paper as well! Trees contain 30% cellulose (from which hazardous chemicals are needed to extract the ingredient needed to make paper), whereas hemp contains up to 85% natural cellulose! This cellulose is converted into pulp, and hemp pulp is inherently of a higher grade than wood pulp, resulting in stronger and higher-quality paper. Hemp also grows far faster than trees to create the same quantity of fibres needed for paper — trees take 20 to 80 years to develop to the point where they can produce paper, whereas hemp needs just 4 months.

It grows in soil that is ready to grow again as soon as it is harvested, as opposed to trees that require years to replenish all the vitamins needed to grow a new harvest properly. In terms of paper production, one acre of hemp can yield as much as 4–10 acres of trees over the course of 20 years.
